Conscience legislation introduced

OTTAWA – Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott (Saskatoon-Wanuskewin) has re-introduced Private Member’s Bill C-537, which would protect the conscience rights of Canada’s health care workers. This is the third time Vellacott has introduced a bill to protect health care workers’ conscience rights. “I hope that the Canadian Parliament will eventually pass this kind of a common sense measure that would protect the freedom of choice for all health care workers,” said Vellacott. Re-introducing the bill on the floor of the House of Commons, Vellacott said: “Mr. Speaker, the bill would prohibit coercion in medical procedures that offend a person’s religion or belief that human life is inviolable. The bill seeks to ensure that health care providers will never be forced to participate against their will in procedures such as abortions or acts of euthanasia.”

Planned Parenthood’s profits

WASHINGTON D.C. – Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s recently released 2006-2007 annual report shows that the abortion behemoth has increased the number of abortions it committed in the United States from 264,943 in 2005 to 289,650 in 2006. Total revenue amounted to over $1 billion, with the organization’s profit margin soaring from $55.7 million in 2005 to $112 million in 2006. Without taxpayer assistance, however, PPFA would be in the red. Planned Parenthood acknowledged taxpayer funding to the tune of $336 million in government grants and contracts.
